Question on Using Google Chrome?
-
I've been using Google Chrome for a while, as it seems to handle many tabs at once much better than Firefox does, but there's one thing from Firefox that I miss and was wondering if there's a way to change. In Firefox, when I used Ctrl + Click on a link, the new tab moves to the end of my tab list, but in Google Chrome, when I use Ctrl + Click on a link, the new tab comes right after the current tab that's in use. I know it's a small thing, but it bothers me to no end. If anyone knows how to make Google Chrome do that, I'd love you for eternity if you'd let me know how to do so :) Thanks in advance!

Answer:
The tabs in Google Chrome do not open quite as you have described, Although it is difficult to explain in text I shall try to explain the best way I can, how the tabs open, at least on my version (4.0.249.89). If you open a new Tab, by either opening Chrome or by clicking on the '+' adjacent to the Tabs, (NOT by Ctrl clicking on a link), let us call this new Tab 'A', any links that you 'Ctrl click' on Tab 'A' will in fact open a new tab at the end of the list, as you describe in Firefox, let us call this new tab which has been opened from a link contained within 'A' as Tab 'a', and subsequent Tabs opened by 'Ctrl clicks' on Tab 'A' as 'b', 'c', 'd' etcetera these will all open at the end of the Tab list. If, however, you then 'Ctrl click' on a link on one of the new Tabs, that is 'a', 'b', 'c', 'd' etc. the new tab which opens WILL open right after the Tab on which that link appears, which is the thing that you dislike. If you then again open a new Tab by pressing the '+', ( ie. NOT from a link) let us call this 'B' exactly the same process will apply as to the original tab 'A', the new 'Ctrl click links will open at the end of the Tab list. Or if you go back to Tab 'A' and 'Ctrl click' on further links these will also open at the end of the list. So it seems that Directly opened Tabs are treated differently to 'Tabs from links on Tabs'. With directly opened Tabs being like 'Main Tabs' and the Tabs from links being like 'Sub Tabs' Phew! I hope that this makes sense.

I am using Chrome ver. 4.0 and when I ctrl-click the new tab opens to the far right of tab list. Possibly update to a new version of Chrome.

You would need to browse google extensions. I do not know if the latest stable version supports extensions, but if it doesn't, then switch to the dev channel of chrome (there's a tutorial somewhere on how to do that; I forget how I did that), and start using extensions. There was one certain extension I perfectly remember that did what you want done. Good luck.
