Why does my MySpace account make me know people's email addresses in order to add them?

I mean I know sometimes when you go to add people it says "Charlie only accepts friend request for people he/she knows. Please enter their last name or email address." Or whaaatever. But no.. its JUST email address. I DONT KNOW ANYONES EMAIL ADDRESSES!! but anyhoo I thought MySpace was just being.. mean. But no.. when my friend trys to add the EXACT SAME PEOPLE it just lets her. Soooo.. whats upp? i'm probably missing something super obvious, haha (: so any help would be great. Thaankyoou:]

because that means there account set to private sooooo that's why and if u want them to be your friend and they r in real life y not just ask lol

people can set it that way where the person has to know their e-mail or last name so some random stranger doesnt add them but some peoples arent that way.
There is a safety setting in myspace that allows you too add emails so if someone with that email adds you it will except it. Idk though, myspace has changed quite a bit. Its honestly a pain.
