What's with the 400 Bad Request in YouTube?

Firefox 3 repeated 400 Bad Request on YouTube?

  • This is driving me absolutely mad. Sometimes I can watch 15 videos on YouTube, sometimes only one, before it stops working and I get nothing but "400 Bad Requests." Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Size of a request header field exceeds server limit. Nothing YouTube loads. Embedded players, nothing. I have to restart Firefox to get YouTube to work again after I start getting 400s. It's stopped working in the time it takes me to type a comment on a video many times before. I try to send the comment and it never sends, refresh the page and, as I expected, 400 Bad Request! Great! I've had to close and reopen Firefox some five times before YouTube would work long enough to allow me to post a comment. It's infuriating. I have Firefox set to clear all private data when I exit, and I've gone through and deleted all cookies and all temporary files many times, and this keeps happening. Is it just a Firefox glitch or something? I would really rather not use any other browser, but I've never had this happen on anything but Firefox. Is there ANYTHING I can do to stop this?

  • Answer:

You probably have a virus. Try to remove the virus, try reinstalling windows, or try out a version of Linux that is immune from Windows viruses http://www.ubuntu.com/
