What exactly is a troll?

People keep calling me a troll and say that I'm trolling when I post a question. I don't really understand what a troll is I've Googled it but the answer wasn't clear. What is a troll? And I'm not trolling I don't troll.

As far as I am aware a troll is a derogatory term for someone who is uneducated and a bit thick. Like a chava.
People who post questions (or answers) on internet forums that do so expressly to stir-up controversy and create mayhem in a particular thread. Sometimes the people that call other people trolls are the trolls themselves. The best bet when encountering a troll is to ignore them....as he old saying goes, "Don't feed the troll!"
