What's the .nfo file in Torrents for?

Did my internet provider block me from downloading torrents?

  • This didn't happen before, but now everytime I try to download a movie torrent(mostly foreign films) I'm unable to watch them. When I right click and select open the containing folder to see all the files, there is only a list of rar files, an NFO file and some dvd jpeg files, but the movie file itself is not even found at all? Why does this keep happening? Am I just downloading the wrong files or did my ISP block me from downloading all torrents?

  • Answer:

Doesn't sound like your ISP blocked you -- they don't change the data if they 'block' -- they would simply cut off your ports. Then the download wouldn't complete, or go insanely slow. Get winrar, and uncompress the .rar file -- all those rar files are pieces of a compressed set -- which is likely your movie.

If they want they can block you for using particular software.
