on newer phones (smart phones, the ones with all the apps) companies have been changing the way they work. instead of using cell phone towers and telephone poles they use a '4g network' to make all calls basically over the internet. so instead of charging you per minute, they charge per memory per call or text, or how much you search the internet for google or facebook, per month.

That means how much information your phone can process through its web service in a plan...Kind of like 1000 minutes for calling. If you use them up, they you can use more or it will cost extra. 500MB's is how much memory it can process. I think loading up a webpage on a phone can take 10-100KB (1000Kb = 1MB) and youtube videos and such take MUCH more memory to load. Good luck!
