How to self install Comcast Internet when cable is shut off on site?

• I signed up to high speed Internet with comcast and received my modem and wish to set up the Internet myself. After setting up the modem, I called the help line to get my service activated and they said that the cable was turned off at my location and that i would have to wait for and pay $50 for a "professional" to turn on the cable so I could be activated. I reeeeealy don't want to pay a guy 50 bucks to flip a switch or whatever when I could do it myself. Is this possible and what am I looking for and where would I look to find it. Are there any pictures online to help? I live in a rented house and am pretty sure it is not inside as all the cables seem to be connected. I was also going to get a self install kit but I am thinking it would not even matter if there is something I need to do physically to get the Internet connected. Please help!

  You really need a professional. They have lots of equipment that you cannont buy that activate the internet at your house. Its worth the 50 bucks. Its 50 bucks or no internet.
