Why does Filesonic, Wupoload, etc. tell me I'm downloading something, when I amn't?
-
So you know those download sites like filesonic.com, wupload.com, etc.? Well whenever I go to download something, very rarely will it let me. It will always say free users are only allowed to download one file at a time, but the thing is, I amn't even downloading anything or have downloaded anything for that matter. I understand they're trying to scam you out of your money to sign up for these things, but is there any workaround to it? It's really annoying.

Answer:
Maybe it depends on your location. Some of these sites have problems with users of a certain location. Also, maybe you can try downloading at a different time. I used to have problems with these sites few years back, but strangely now I never have problems with these sites, and i'm not doing anything 'unusual' . I do just what you do, click a link which goes to those sites to enable me to download stuff. Only thing it won't let me parallel downloads. I have to wait for one download to finish. Another thing after a while it tells me to wait longer to download (if i have downloaded a few files) , but very rarely i get a problem like you do (used to get it few years back but it seems fixed now) Unfortunately in your case there's no workaround to that i think, sometimes you're lucky, other times you're not. Perhaps you can try clearing out your cache and cookies. See if that works, OTHER thing is if there's a mirror download to what you're downloading, try if that mirror works. Some people have problems download off of one site, but the mirror (on another site) works just fine I don't know if ip address is the problem, but you can try requesting a dynamic ip address (which changes on each session) from your service provider (if you ain't got it already), see that helps! ....I really don't know if this is the problem. If it doesn't even let you download one file then maybe this is not the problem, but you can still check!

Do you have a static IP address? Who else shares that IP? Because that's the way they track you, by IP and it seems somebody else has it too. Few people i guess, having that rarely you can download. If it's a shared IP... don't bother trying.
