IE does not show images, Firefox does not download, Safari fine, what's wrong with my browsers (/settings)?

2 Questions: 1) IE7 does not show certain images (e.g. google maps) but does show image search. what I tried: A) On internet Explorer From Tools Menu Choose Internet Options From Advance Tab, category Multimedia, check show Picturs while uncheck/check following check box. (neither works) B) clear Temporary File C) Pages work fine in firefox 2) My Firefox will not download certain files. The download page pops up, allowing me to click save, but does not continue. about this problem a) I know because my download statusbar and save file location shows nothing new b) I can download the files from IE, so it's not a webpage problem 3) An extra note: both functions work on Safari, and yes, I like having several browsers (& no, they are not open at the same time, that's not why) So, any brilliant minds out there?

Answer:
IE7: Go to Internet Options Go to Security Click on the Internet icon Click on the Custom level button Scroll down and near the bottom, look for "Display Mixed Content" Change it to Enable Try that? --------------------------- FireFox may not be able to download Files if there is something wrong with the folder they are being sent to > Example: Registry Corruption, Folder is 'invisible', permissions and/or access are insufficient, the folder is on a local network and FireFox is unable to access the Local Network. If none of those are the issue, then. Please try to temporarily disable all of your Add-Ons' To do such:> FireFox > Tools > Add-Ons > Click An Add-On > Disable. If that doesn't do it, please re-boot FireFox in Safe Mode > You can find the instructions for that here > http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode last but not least, Firefox may be set to handle certain types of files with an automatic action and sometimes it is not what you want or may result in errors. For example, Firefox may automatically open a certain file type with an application or plugin, when you would rather save the file. Check for entries related to the problem file type via "Tools -> Options -> Content / File Types -> Manage..." (Firefox 2 ) or "Tools -> Options -> Applications" (Firefox 3) and change the action. For more information, see File types and download actions. You can reset all file download actions to the default settings by removing the mimeTypes.rdf file from the Firefox profile folder, as follows: 1. Close Firefox completely 2. Open the Firefox profile folder. Important: this folder is hidden by default on Windows and Linux. Read this for help finding it. 3. Delete (or rename) the "mimeTypes.rdf" file (a new file will be created when you next start Firefox) * <filename>.exe could not be opened, because an unknown error occurred. Try saving to disk first and then opening this file. If you see this error, delete (or rename) the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox profile folder, as explained above. This will resolve an issue in which Firefox tries to open executable (exe) files, which causes this error to occur. [17] [18]

To fix your internet explorer, you need to right click the icon, select properties, and choose the last tab where you can access the advanced all the settings for your internet explorer...The main three you are after (these need to be check-marked in their selection boxes) are: #1:SHOW IMAGE DOWNLOAD PLACE HOLDERS #2:PRINT BACKGROUND COLORS #3: FORCE OFF-SCREEN COMPOSITING EVEN UNDER TERMINAL SERVER... Depending upon your operating system, you need to set a default browser, and yes you will have to choose one as your primary browser....Good luck!!!
