Can I change the setting so the Internet does not time out?

How can I use time restrictions to block internet access after a certain time at night?

  • We have tried K9 Parental Controls, setting the time to 10pm on weeknights to turn off internet, unfortunately if a user has an "active connection" and doesn't navigate away from a page or game they can stay online and the internet oly stops working once they change pages, etc. The same is true for our wireless router, we have DLink and you can set access restrictions but it also has the "active connection" problem. We'd really just like a way for the internet to be automatically shut off at the teenagers bedtimes, we don't always stay up as late as them, especially on weekends, and they don't keep track of time well. I'd just like the internet to TURN OFF completely at a certain time, regardless of if they have an active connection or not. Is there a way to do this? Help sincerely appreciated!

  • Answer:

well the best way is not to turn off the internet but turn off the user account on vista control panel user accounts and family safety parental controls (then click user) time limits
