How do i connect my iphone to the internet?

I am trying to set VNC up where i can connect to it over the internet. I am using the viewer from my Iphone.?

• I am trying to set up VNC on my laptop so that i can connect via the internet, not the intranet. meaning i can already connect via the LAN, but not the Internet. My laptop is running the server SPECS: Vista Premium 4 gB ddr3 ram 2.8 duel GHZ processor Viewer is running off of my iphone. Thanks in advance

  This is cake with a little program called TightVNC, which I use every day. Just download and install the program, which installs the TightVNC Server and Viewer. Launch the Server, and the only thing you need to do is select a password. It will then run in your system tray, out of the way. You then need to find your external IP address, this is the IP address on the other side of your router/modem, facing the internet. You can find this by going to http://www.whatismyip.com/. You will use this IP address on your iPhone to connect over the internet to your computer. If your router is not routing it correctly, then you will need to go into the administration GUI for the router, usually by browsing to your routers IP address. You will need to set up a port forwarding rule to forward incoming connections on ports 5800-5900 to your computers LAN IP address. Good luck holmes.
