I wont'd get any tumblr email notifications?!?

so tumblr won't send me any notifications for anything. i just created my tumblr maybe a week or two ago and i went to my preferences and checked the reblogs, message, and new followers box but i've never gotten an email notification for reblogs or messages but i know that people have reblogged me because i see it on my dashboard and i see the new messages when i log on. and for new followers, i only get an email like once out of every 5. How do i fix this cause its really annoying?!
