My browser cannot connect to the internet.

Programs cant connect to the internet, but i can get on the internet with my browser?

When I try to use a program to connect to the internet such as Itunes or even updating my anti-virus, it says that I am unable to connect. But when I open Firefox I am able to get onto the internet. I have looked at my firewall and restarted it but it didn't seem to help, I ran as admin and it still did nothing. I have Windows 7. Any ideas that could help?
Answer:

You have to manually give the proxy configuration for each programs. Go to Tools>Options>Advanced>Network>Settings , and check for the proxy configuration given there.
