What is an appropriate age to skype?

  • Heyy, So I really want a skype because I want to be able to talk to my friends face to face that I've made from youtube. Everyone on youtube does skype because they post comments on eachother's walls about how "Skype was SO fun yesterday" and then they post inside jokes. I want to be able to skype but my mom doesn't approve but my dad does. Can you tell me what age you think is safe to start skype and some reasons why I should? Thanks[: *BEST ANSWER 10 POINTS*

    any age should be fine! Im 13 and i skype all the time!!! (not to brag) I have a little sister (8) who skypes her friend in Ohio 24/7!!

I don't see why there should be a minimum age for Skype any more than there should be for using a telephone or writing a letter. It's not like Facebook, it's just another form of telecommunication.

It doesn't matter, it's fine as long as you know the people you add, and there are friend requests you can reject, so it's not like everyone can tell who you are.

I don't know probably like 13? I started using skype when I was 9 though .. Skype is as safe if you want it to be. If you want to be safe: add people you know. If you don't want to be safe: add random strangers. Just get it any ways why do you ask your parents :s ?
