How do I check if this website can be trusted to use?

  • I found his website where i can download free Microsoft applications and I am not sure if I can trust the website. How can I be sure that this website be trusted.     my norton says it is safe but to me it doent look right it does not have anything to do with microsoft in the url which is unusal for microsoft. also look for a microsoft certificate. if it downloads to you windows system fully it will give you that warning but if not you would need to look yourself

I checked my Norton Safe Search's report on the site. It said it was safe but it only checks the site itself and not the actual files. If your just looking your fine. But you know that saying if it seems to good to be true?

Get "Web of Trust" for your browser (IE or Firefox, maybe others). Gives a graphical icon for 'trusted' or 'untrusted' user feedback rating on most sites. If you right click any link you come across, then click in the pop menu "View WoT Scorecard", that will take you to the reviews and other specific items about the site. Not completely flawless, but way better than nothing, and very handy for those not adept in security. http://www.mywot.com/en/download

It requires a Hotmail sign in so I would presume it was safe The layout of it doesn't really look like a "phishing" site as well
