Why is my downloading so slow?

Why the hell am i downloading so slow!?

  • Ok.... Before we start i am pissed on how slow this is going. So i am downloading a patch to a game. It is a 270.5 MB size file. It is on 0.3/270.5 MB and i have been running it for well over 45 mins. It has estimated that it will take 14 ******** days! WTF! My friend downloaded it in less than 4 mins. Why the ***** is it going so slow. Is there anything i can do to fix this?

    Try to find an alternative source for the file. That server is definitely under far too much strain at the moment. I wouldn't wait if I were you. It could also be that the server is not under much strain, but it's just incredibly slow anyway. Maybe it's being hosted on a residential connection or something.

If you have a wireless internet maybe someone is using your connection too(by connecting to your modem and "steal" internet). If this happens try going in your modem's settings and create a password on your internet modem so that only you will be able to connect to it.. Otherwise you should contact you ISP (Internet Provider Service)

What kind of Internet access do you have? And what plan do you have?

first off it shouldnt matter what browser you use BUT maybe try using internet explorer or safari. im sure you know that the speed depends on what speed internet connection you have? do a speedtest on testmyspeed.com o check you are getting the speed you should be, but even witth the slowest broadband speed which is 1MB it shouldnt take 14 days. Maybe its just an off day and there are too many people using the internet and the traffic is high, this happes alot especially if your broadbands runs through a phone line such as bt or tiscali. Disconnect your router/modem for about 30 minutes then try redownloading it.
