Do I need an Active phone line for Comcast Internet?

Every time our phone rings, we loose our internet connection, what's going on?

• My wife and I are some of the few people who still have a house phone line. Well, for the past two weeks or so, we've noticed that every single time it rings, we lose our wireless internet connection. We don't have a desk top, but individual laptops. Its not only our laptops that loose this but the Xbox will, and our iPhone's will (if they're on WiFi mode) as well. Our ISP is not the same company that provides our phone service. We Vonage for our phone and Comcast for our internet. This has started happening every single time and the only we need to do is just reconnect. It's getting annoying.

  Look for a kink in the phone line. This could cause the insullation in the cord to short out when the phone rings. If you do not see a problem, call ypur local phone company. They can run a diagnostics test from the office. I would advise you to get inside wire maintenance added to your phone line and then wait about a month before you ask them to test it. Without the inside wire maintenance plan, the phone company is only responsible for wire outside of your home. If they have to come in to your home, they may charge you up to $100.00 per hour to fix it.
