How Do I Restore Browse in Private?

I can't browse the internet, help?

I decided to download internet explorer 8 when it started asking for information I didn't have on me at the time. (father's computer). So I did a system restore. After it wouldn't even open up a window for the internet or anything else so then consulted a computer friend he said delete any explore 8 updates then restore again. so i did now i have the window but still can browse nor open internet options. I know I am connect to the internet any help would be great thank you very much p.s. for the first time I have messed something up on a computer saved my father many times

try downloading something like firefox. you got to yahoo answers. You should be able to do that.
