What is POP?

When there is a photo on the internet and has 'disable pop up blocker' below it, what does that mean?

• When there is a photo on the internet and has 'disable pop up blocker' below it, what does that mean. I usually am looking at AOL news page but it appears to be on all of them. It says 'disable pop up blocker below, the pix, what does it mean? I also want to know when I click on the photos, why does it pop up into another window? I don't like this because I want to increase text sizes on my screen and when this window that pop up with the photos it will not increase anything. I usually use the zoom feature on the page tools. I don't like clicking on these darm photos and looking at smaller pix. How can I make the computer just show me the photos in the original box on the screen instead of popping up that darn shrunken one. Does it have anything to do with the 'disable pop up blocker' thing that does nothing?

  it just means that to make it better you could install something but you dont really need it if it is working
