Why does a laptop have a no signal message?

"error" message when trying to connect to wireless signal on laptop?

  • I'm staying at my dads house for the week and he gave me the password to his wireless stuff for my laptop. he set it up for me before he left and it worked fine for a couple of days and then all the sudden its been saying that there was an error when the computer tried to connect to the internet. what do i do? I cant just call the internet provider because I dont have access to their account info or anything and their on vacation with their phone out of service.

    Try Moving Closer To The Wireless Router. If you running windows xp right click on the wireless bar and press VIEW AVAILABLE WIRELESS NETWORKS. If It Sows Up In There Clcik Connect

Maybe you should unplug both power plugs for cable and router for a few minutes, and then plug them back into the outlet. You can call the cable company and ask if the service for your area is down. You don't need account information for this, just your location.

Ok this is a complicated thing..... if he has a wereless router try to resett it and check ports you could also call the company for suggestions.... another thing could be he didnt pay his bill(no way to fix this).... or you could try to connect to the signal wired whitch isnt that complicated. just see what router it is if he has one...... try resetting the router and/or call them. it could be your laptops firewall(s) settings.

Since the error is the key to the problem, what does the error say exactly?
