Which is better, Internet explorer or Firefox?

I currently use internet explorer but some of my friends and family say the i should try firefox because its faster and it doesn't "suck @ss". I think the entire reason they are even suggesting it is because recently i have been saying that my computer runs slowly when i try doing stuff online or just when i open the internet. I have used firefox before but only once so i don't have much of an opinion on it. Basically, which do you think is better? No rude answers please!

I think firefox better than explorer because explorer keep lagging all the time. (firefox also lagging to but not as much as explorer). How bout you try use google chrome? maybe it better. I heard from my friends that it is better. Sorry for the bad grammar. :D

Microsoft has Firewall.....do you use that firewall to protect against attacks? no of course,you buy another vendor. Microsoft has basic internet explorer....should you use that to surf the web? no of course,you should download a different vendor. The purpose of creating Internet Explorer was to allow users to access web and download FireFox or other browsers.
