How do I write a poem?

  • My english teacher is very vague when giving out assignments, this is what she told us on the first day of second semester, and I have no idea how to do it. -Your poem must have a minimum of 10 lines, but should not exceed 20 lines. -You can pick the topic and the tone of your poem (gloomy, humorous, joyful, angry, etc.). -Your poem should contain at least one of the following sound devices: alliteration, assonance, consonance, or onomatopoeia. Is a poem just like an essay but shorter? I honestly have no idea.

    A poem is writing down your own feelings and thoughts, sometimes theres rules into how you make your poems therefore you have to find a way to please the rules on how to do the poem and yourself Mostly it just writing about your life, and how your feeling in a short sense, no it's not really like an essay you have to have rhymed to the poem, you can make it rhyme, or you can make it not rhyme, either way the poem just has to make sense You can write a gloomy,humorous,joyful,angry, etc about your life anything that makes you feel something, and of course you had to include in the following sound devices in them
