What is poetry?

What form of poetry is this poem?

  • I wrote this poem for an over-the-summer school assignment, and I need to identify its form. Perhaps it would have been smart to plan this beforehand, but... I didn't. Here's the poem: Ashes to ashes— but I told you I was scared of flames, told you I was frightened of the thing that makes you sane and your hollow words like threats against the hollow of my throat. And to you it's all a joke you revel in. You baffle innocence— you cling and tear away, lead astray those jewels, till by and by, you've throbbed and robbed them blind, stoked the fuel they never noticed, aimed to lift them even higher. As for me, I am the first. And you'll persist, and you will thirst, until I'm swallowed whole, until I'm beckoned by the fire flickering within your eyes. "Here and there my virtue lies," I shall claim. It's all the same to you, who, guiltless, shall reply in turn: "Let's watch the maidens burn." ~~~ There is a list of forms to choose from. They are: ballad beat poetry blank verse cinquain dramatic verse experimental poetry formal verse free verse ghazal hybrid form invented form light verse limerick long poetry lyric poetry metrical narrative pantoum prose rhyming rondeau sestina sonnet tanka visual poetry I am familiar with several of these forms, but I'm not enough of an expert to figure out which category my own poem fits into. Any help is greatly appreciated! :-)
