Where did your name, and your children's names come from?

My name's Bonnie, and the story behind it is beautiful. Makes me wish i was alive to be there. My father met my Mother in a small pub in Scotland (Where my mother is from), My dad was there from Canada visiting his best friend John, my uncle. They fell in love almost immediately, but my dad had to go back to his home in Canada. They wrote letters to each other, and saw each other every three months and met back at the pub, and had a beautiful week together, but sadly my dad needed to return to take care of his sick mother. after a few months, my mom couldn't handle it anymore and told my dad that if she couldn't have all of him, she didn't want any. this was over the phone, and she hung up. two days later, my dad showed up at her flat with a ring and asked if she'd take all of him. I'm named Bonnie after The Bonnie Scotland, the land that brought these people together.

my first name (Alex) my parents named me off the main character from A Clockwork Orange... no word of a lie!!! So i'm named after a murdering rapist... lol. although their explanation for it is because they liked the name, and they liked how he looked in the film. with the fake eyelashes on one eye thing. my middle name is the name of the ward i was born on in the hospital. my sisters name (scarlett) was taken from Scarlett o'hara, but she was going to be called June if her hair was blonde when she was born and Scarlett if her hair was dark when she was born. she was born with dark hair, so now her middle name is june and first name scarlett :P a friend of mine had her name chosen by her parents who flicked to a random page in a baby book, closed their eyes and pointed at a name - Jordon :P then just hoped he was a boy! turned out she was a girl! but they kept the name! xx

Well, I was named after an 80 year old woman who lived down my mother's street! She'd always given my mum sweets when she was a child so she named me Jessica after her. :)

My mum got my name from a programme called Cell Block H, about prison inmates (great eh) she liked the name of one of the characters so i ended up with her name, Charley! With my 1st daughter me and my partner were really struggling to agree as he hated my choices and i hated his. I was working in a nursery at the time and came home with a funny story about a new girl who had started and as i mentioned her name he said that he liked it and it was a name i liked to so my daughter got called Rhyley. Now because her surname was such a masculine name and her 1st name is unisex we gave her Grace as a middle name to avoid confusion later. So she ended up Rhyley Grace. With my 2nd daughter (different dads), id always wanted to name a child of mine after my grandad and my 1st partner didn't like it but luckily my new partner does so when she arrives her 1st name will be Georgie. My nanna died last year a few days before i knew i was pregnant and we were really close so we have decided to honour her too by giving our daughter her name as a middle name Jean. So she will be Georgie Jean (maybe spelt Gene). Im just glad this little one is a girl b/c we couldn't find one single boys name we liked and i think Rhyley and Georgie are a good sib-set even though i bet people will think i've got two little boys when i tell them their names.

My whole family are named after people.. I'm Nicole Amber Sarah.. after my dad's two sisters. One of his sisters (Nicole Amber) died just before I was born. She always went by Nikki-Amber (even though Amber was her middle name) and my dad wanted to call me Nikki-Amber, but my mum wanted to just call me Nicole. They agreed to go for Nicole Amber, but not wanting to give me the exact same name as my aunt, they also gave me my dad's other sisters name, Sarah, as a second middle name. I tend to just go by Nikki though :) My siblings: - Tanya Elizabeth - My mums sister (Tanya) and godmother (Elizabeth) - Ryan Mark - My dads brother (Ryan) and my dad (Mark) - Kaitlynn Louise - My parents mums (Kaitlynn from - Katherine and Lynette) and my mums middle name (Louise) - Cadence Rose - My mums best friend (Cadence) and her favourite flower (Rose) - Sinead Maria - Sinead was just a name her mum and my dad liked, and her mum is called Maria. My two gorgeous nieces (Tanya's daughters) - Sasha Caidlyn - Sasha was just a name Tanya and her fiance liked, Caidlyn is a combination of our sisters names, Kaitlynn and Cadence. My name wasn't included but I am her godmother :) (And Sinead hadn't been born yet!) - Gabrielle Ryanna - Gabrielle, again just a name they liked. Ryanna (Rye-Anna) is a feminine version of our late brother, Ryan. x

Maisey is after my mums dog that she had as a little girl! lol then Kaila - i wanted to call her Kaia or Kacie but my mum hated both said i should go for a stronger name like Katherine to me & my sister happened to be there at the time and my sister alice said ' thats a disgusting name what about Kaila' and i loved it! Then one of her middle names is Marcella after my grandmother, then Rae as she's my little ray of sunshine :) Sophie Layla Grace & Aimee Amelia Rose - So i asked my husband to come up with some of his favourite names we were having twin girls he came up with Grace & Rose, both lovely names but i felt they were too short for first names and you can't have nicknames from Grace & Rose. I really liked the name Sophie & Aimee and he liked them too. Layla is after his sister, and Amelia is a gorgeous name :) Elijah - We didnt decide this for definate until about 34weeks! We both really liked Elias and decided on that at about 30 weeks but as we thought more and more about it we swayed more towards are backup - Elijah :) and his middle names - are family based

well my name's Kayleigh Louise and my mum chose the name just because she liked it however I was going to be named Shelby LOL. I am proud mummy to five wonderful children, some have meaning to their names some just because we both liked them. Cody James- We both liked this name and the bonus of it was that it came with a cute nickname CJ. Holly Jayden-Holly was a name I'd loved since I was young and Jayden because we both liked it. Kameron Jae-Again we just both loved the name. Riley Mark-Riley was a name we both loved and Mark after his daddy! Faith Delaney- Again just a name we both loved. For our 6th we are thinking of Aubree Skye, Georgia Naomi or Maya Grace- Those are just names with love. If a boy then it will be either-Austin, Jesse, Casey or Logan with the middle name Andrew which would be after my fiance's middle name and my real dad's name.

My first name was given to me by my dad. My mom already had two daughters, and she gave them her two favorite girl names, Tiffany Lynn and Melissa Kay. So she told my dad to name me something he liked, but since he also didn't have any names that he liked, the first name that popped into his head when I was born is what I was named. Thus, I was Lea. My middle name is Lorraine, after my grandmother. My daughter's name is Kara Mae. Kara is after one of my best friends. Mae is after a friend of my boyfriend's family who passed away. He had always told me how she was more like a grandmother to him than his actually grandparents, and how much he had loved her. Even though I had never met her, I knew how much it would mean to him and to the rest of his family for me to give our daughter that name. I am expecting again in June, and we plan to name her Kylee Makenna. No really special story there, it was just a name we both really liked.
