Where can i find a public race track in IL?

Will not running track effect my performance in Cross Country the following year?

  • I'm going to be a Junior in high school and I love running Cross Country. My goal is to break 16 minutes in a 3 mile race and not lose my place among the people that I run my races with. At my school Cross Country runners in the fall usually go over into the distance track program in the spring which for us is the 800, 1600, and 3200 Meter events. I honestly hate running track and since sports are optional for me now since I've completed all my PE credits for college I was hoping to not take track this year and come back for XC senior year. The problem is that I don't want to be any slower than the people in my race that do run track and XC this year. So my question is, if I don't run track, will I be any slower than the people in my grade that did run track the year before? Of course during off season I won't just be sitting down and watching T.V. I'll be doing swim workouts and cycling when I find time, but I'm still worried. Any advice would be appreciated also.

  • Answer:
