What are good advertising strategies for a local business?

Help with online advertising?

  • I started a website in order to provide people in a particular city a place to find every manner of business. I haven't launched the site, like advertise it to the public yet, I am having trouble getting clients for the simple fact that they have never heard of it before. What are some strategies I can adopt to get people on my side and convince them to purchase online advertising? I am going to adopt a new strategy in which I offer them free advertising from now until Dec1, at which point if they choose to stay they pay an extremely low monthly fee of 20$ for 3 months...18$ for 6...16 for 9 and 15 for 12. What are pros and cons of doing this? suggestions are NEEDED and help is required.

    Hi etown, Typically, sites similar to yours allow advertising listings for free. Then charge for featured ad space and/or to enhance a listing.
