If someone asks you to design a website for them?

Im in second year university and i want to gain experience over the break. A lady has asked me to design her business a website. In university all ive learnt to do is design the look, layout, colours, consistency with the brand values etc i can do those for her but what i think she needs is for me to actually put together her website(technically). I dont know how to do that. When someones asks you to design/build a website for them can you give them the design and they find someone else to put it together on computer? OR if anyone knows a link which can properly teach me please share, i really want to help this lady out plus itll be a great addition to my folio. Thanks!:)

Try to minimize the tasks you have to do by using pre-made services when possible, just getting setup on a server, securing a domain name and putting content in place and testing is a job. Building from scratch probably makes no sense, starting with a pre-made template would get most of the technical stuff out of the way, maybe http://www.templatemonster.com/ is worth a visit. Kompozer is a free html editor some use. It may be easier to use a platform that takes care of most of the technical aspects for you, many smaller businesses use the popular Wordpress CMS with it's countless plugins and themes available. Most of the standard $5 - $9 month hosts offer an easy Wordpress installer. You might create a custom header and tweak the theme look. Squarespace.com also provides a ready-made platform with lots of customization options. Providing a little SEO, getting in the search engines and a few links would be a nice bonus.
