Is it difficult to major in marketing?

Major in marketing and minor in advertising or double major in both?

• I really want to do both. I have more of a passion for adverting though. The only thing is if I major in advertising I don't want to be narrowed down to a few jobs. Since marketing is broad I figure I could major in that and still have advertising under my belt. Or maybe even double major. The only thing is I don't really understand double major. Is it like getting half marketing courses and half advertising courses? Can someone explain.

  Kiwi - I would tell you that most people that are successful (pick up any autobiography of a business person) become that way from doing something that they are passionate about. If you don't really like what you are doing, and are sitting in a cubicle staring at the walls wishing for what could have been, they you aren't successful. If, on the other hand, you are energetic and motivated about what you are doing, that energy will be passed to those around you and you will be successful and happy. Remember, life (even if you live 100 years) is still too short to be doing something you don't like. As far as a double major, you should be required to take all classes for each major. The classes you wouldn't have to take are those that are duplicate in each. For example, is you have to take Econ 101 for both majors, you only have to take it once.
