Can I trade under a name which is different from my business name?

Looking for a business name.. HELP! Trade and Electrical Business.?

yea I would stay away from BKT, likely to evoke memories of the BTK serial killer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dennis_Rader There are sites with tools that help you come up with fictitious names, including: wordlab.com, naming.net, wordoid.com, lingzini.com, namestation.com, some of these tools look up the domain name availability as you go. Securing the .com domain of a name is a almost like an informal trademark registration. You could feed wordoid Electro or Electric as the base word to form name. electronal.net , electroup.net , electroduck.net , electroker.net are some of the more usable suggestions that came up, but all have the .com version already taken.
