How long does a lip ring take to heal and how do you hide it from your parents?

  • I have wanted to pierce my lip for 2 years. i have finally decided that i am going to pierce it myself. i know that it is not the best idea but i am doing it... no matter what. so anyway... i was wondering how long does it take to heal. i have seen 10-15 days all the way to 6 weeks. how long does it actually take. also, how can i hide it at first from my parents... i want to hide it at first then let them see 1 more question after the piercing heals... i may need the hole to close up. how long will this take?

It depends on the person. My lip took about a week to heal, my best friends never did and kept getting infected. But one thing.... if you may need the hole to close up, why are you piercing it in the first place? That also depends on the person... it can close up right away, or it could stay pierced for a long time. Oh, and to hide it from your parents.... Don't. Be like, "ma, pa, I pierced my lip. That's that."

Don't waste your money on something your parents will make you take out. A facial piercing is a hard thing to hide, if you really want one you can get a flesh-toned labret, I use to have one to hide my monroe at work. Or get a septum piercing, since you can always flip up the piercing to hide it.

No piercing is healed in a matter of days. Six weeks is even a bit soon, you're looking at at least 8 weeks for it to fully heal. This means you cannot take the jewelry out during this entire period. There's absolutely no way to hide a facial piercing from your parents - they're not dumb, they WILL notice.

i don't know how long it takes, but to hide it from your parents, say it is a cold sore or something.
