What are the common causes of irritation?

Is my skin normal? Retinol causes no irritation.?

  • I started using 1.5% retinol serum of a well known, well reviewed brand for about a week now and I noticed that I am experiencing 0 irritation what so ever. No redness, no dryness, no peeling. I've been using it every night and I put on a lot to cover my entire face and some neck. I've also stopped using my glycolic toner at night because I heard glycolic acid lowers the effectiveness of retinol. Is this normal? Is it my skin? Or does it mean that retinol is not working on my skin? I am a straight male in mid 20s. No acne since high school graduation. I always thought I had somewhat sensitive skin. But I bombarded my skin with benzoyle peroxide to treat acne during high school and I've always used AHA or BHA based toners even after my acne stopped.

    You're young and have no acne, so why are you using Retinol on your face? Retinol is not something to be used casually, even in a low dosage. This may be why you see no effect. You've only been using it for a week. Give it time to do whatever you imagine it is going to do for you. Kudos to you for caring about your skin...men tend to take their skin for granted, and you're not.

even i use retinol but itts a gel and dries the acne.i use it only where it is required because it makes my skin dry.its good... now you donot need to be dissapoint. i have oily skin.you should use the following even i use the same... 1.clean and clear face wash 2.lacto calemine.ban moisturisers. 3.himalaya neem pack.it has antibacterial properties and will dry up your pinples. or you can also make pack by mixing chandan powder with rose water and turmeric powder.. thankyou:)
