Ingrown toenail after surgery treatment?

Is there any way to get ingrown toenail surgery with no money or insurance?

  • I've been trying to remove an ingrown toenail in the big toe on my right foot for the past few weeks but I've had little luck in getting it out. Normally, I'm able to take the pain and dig in deep enough to remove the nail, but this time I'm dealing with a nail that's much harder to reach. I've taken out half of the nail, and it seems like I've gotten all the nail under my skin, but every time I touch my toe I can still feel a nail poking the skin. The toe looks terrible and I'm beginning to think I need surgery. I've heard it will take me $300 to get surgery, which I simply can't raise, and I don't have insurance. And even if I did get the surgery, would removing the entire nail be my only option?

  • Answer:

To be left with bathroom surgery is an appalling choice. Is there no free clinic in your neighbourhood? To me, it sounds like you have an infection, and you really need to deal with that ASAP. So at least go to a professional and get a prescription for some antibiotic. Best of luck.

You could remove it yourself or take it to a nail shop and have it removed there. Though it would be only advisable if there is no bruises or wounds.
