What is the meaning of a feather tattoo?

NATIVE TATTOO, I can not find this now, want the tattoo?

• I am looking for this tattoo design I seen and can not find anymore! It is a native tattoo, a feather that hangs with the feathery part down and it is split into 2 at this end and colored red up to the split. the feather is mainly a white/dirty white like color in the middle, the a gray/black like on the 'quill' end and around the edges. The meaning that was listed for it was something like... this warrior has been though war/battle/fights and has survived and won. Now the description on what it looks like is close but the meaning i maybe off with the wording!!! I am wanting to get this tattooed on my right ankle. I have been through so many unreal things in my 24 years and I, well just really want to find this and make sure the meaning is the same as the design of the tattoo! I have looked on so many website and found nothing. Hope someone can help.

  Kudos to you for doing the research to make sure this is the right design for you. Unfortunately, you may just want to get off the internet and go to your local bookstore or library and look up Native American symbolism and iconography. I bet y ou'll find many great designs, inspiration, and perhaps even the exact meaning of the design you described. At the end of the day, though, it's what the picture means you *you* that counts.
