I have a lot of tattoos, so I think I can answer this for you. Tattoos don't hurt at all at first. It's a tiny sting, but the sound and vibrations become relaxing. The colouring hurts a bit more because your skin is starting to get tender and they have to keep going over spots, so the end of your appointment you may get more antsy. Don't take any pain killers like tylenol beforehand because they think out your blood and you will bleed more during the tattoo. Eat a meal or at least a snack before you go to get your blood sugars at a good level or you may get pretty light headed when you stand up. Don't feel like you need to chat up your tattooist during the whole appointment. Make a bit of polite conversation but let them concentrate on the task at hand. Tattooing over top of scars is tough. They have to go over and over to get the colour to take so that tends to hurt. Scar tissue can be pretty sensitive. I have my upper and lower back done (no pain), both arms (no pain) and two on my chest also (zero pain). Places that hurt to get tattooed: Armpit, mouth, feet, side or front of the neck, ribs (front or side), and inner hip. My back tattoo is so wide it wraps around the front of my hips a bit and that made me wince!! But pain or not, once you start you gotta finish. Before you get one, think 'what will this look like on my skin when I am forty'. If you pick a part thats going to stretch if you get pregnant or fat or lose weight, that tattoo is gonna look real weird afterwards. If you get a tattoo on your wrist, you're looking at a long life of long sleeves when you head out to the work force cuz you're going to have to cover them up to get a good job. Good luck!

Imagine getting a shot @ the doctor, continuously, for 30 minutes or so. After you get your tat they should bandage it to prevent bleeding, which will be very minimal. Don't eat before you get it if needle-pain might make you throw up. Just relax, the tattoo artist knows what he's doing. Don't tense up as that will make it worse.

Ask to see examples of the tattoo artists work, especially examples that are similar to yours. Since you are getting lilies, request to see examples of their pieces with flowers. Do not go with the cheapest artist you can find, go with the best. You will not regret spending 400 dollars on a tattoo that looks amazing like you will regret spending 80 dollars on a tattoo that sucks. No one is going to be able to tell you how much your tattoo will hurt because no one knows what it feels like to be in your skin, each person has a different tolerance level. It's going to hurt, but the pain is temporary, the art is permanent. Good luck, no regrets.

Stay still what ever you do don't even argue with the guy not even once or even have a mean guy doing your tattoo

Dont listen to that other person. you need to eat otherwise youre more likely to pass out.

To me I got mine bout where your talkin bout mine felt really good and it tickled my side for the outline the coloring felt like a soft scratching but didnt hurt.

You can't prepare. You just go with it.

why would you want that? it isnt even symbolic of anything. i think you should wait and make a decision when your a mature adult
