What does it take to become a global artist?

What GCSEs would I have to take to become a tattoo artist?

  • I know I'm going to take art, but would I need to take graphics or something? Would I need an apprenticeship?

    It doesn't matter what else you take as long as you have Art. The most important thing is that you have a great portfolio of drawings and designs, so just keep working on that whenever you can and then you should start taking it round to your local artists, get to know them and ask for any training or apprenticeships that might come up. If you can get some other qualifications in things like ear piercing with a health and safety certificate that would work in your favour, but otherwise there are no formal qualifications in this area and it's all about just finding a studio to take you on.

Art and Graphics are the only two that slightly relate to being a tattoo artist. You'll deffinatley need to be very artistic, and an incredibly good drawer, but I doubt GCSE art matters to whether you can become a tattooist or not. You'll deffinatley need to do Art GCSE and A Level to have a good looking cv for any tattoo shop to employ you or to get on to a course to train.

Art,graphics and biology would probably be a good start ,art collage would be good to and an apprenticeship as far as I know is the only way to become a good tattoo artist
