On a scale of 1-10 how much do you think this tattoo would hurt?

I want to get a short saying tattooed on my ribs. I'm skinny though so there's really no meat at all on my ribcage. The saying is "every saint has a past, every sinner has a future" I don't want it to be more than three lines.. Sooo how much do you guys think this would hurt? Can anyone compare that pain to anything else? It's my first tattoo and it's going to be simple handwriting. Please and thank you in advance!

Answer:
It would hurt badly. I haven't got a tattoo because it has got a high chance of getting cancer, so I'm never going to get one. If you have a fear of needles or blood, getting a tattoo isn't going to be easy. However, I would like to point out that tattoo needles do not enter the skin very far as many fear - actually, it only goes in about 1/16 of an inch. Take a look at a ruler and you'll see just how insignificant that is. Another thing you can do is get your tattoo somewhere on your body where you will not be able to watch the work going on. This helps some to overcome the apprehension, by not actually seeing the needle. The needles move in an up-and-down motion, carefully pushing the ink just below the surface of the skin. The damage to your skin is so minimal that many people don't bleed at all - or very little. The tattoo artist will also be constantly wiping up your skin to clean off any traces of blood, so it's done in a very clean and professional manner. Excessive bleeding usually only results when the patron has been drinking alcohol or taking some kind of blood thinner (like aspirin). Tattoos can cause skin problems such as granulomas (red bumps caused by inflammation) and keloid scars, and they can provoke allergic reactions, making skin itch and break out. These allergic reactions can occur with no warning, years after you get your tattoo. Getting a tattoo also puts you in danger of getting diseases such as AIDS, tetanus, hepatitis B and hepatitis C (although you can reduce your risk by selecting a good tattoo parlor). In addition to these health problems, tattoos can cause a hassle at the doctor's office. Don't tattoo over a mole, as this makes it harder to detect cancerous growth. If you get an MRI scan on a tattooed part of your body, you may experience swelling or burning, although these effects aren't permanent. You can significantly reduce your risk of contracting a disease or developing a skin infection by using a tattoo parlor that follows proper sterilization procedures. Check that the tattoo parlor is licensed by the local or state health department. In addition, ask whether the tattoo parlor uses disposable needles and tubes and throws away used pigments and trays. A tattoo parlor should have an autoclave (a machine that sterilizes non-disposable tools), and surfaces such as tables should be wiped down with disinfectant. The tattoo artist should wash his hands with antibacterial soap and wear latex gloves. After you get your tattoo, your tattoo artist should give you a list of instructions on how to take care of your new tattoo. Follow these instructions to prevent infection and color loss. f you want a tattoo now but not forever, there may be hope on the horizon. Scientists have developed biodegradable tattoo inks that are easier to remove than traditional tattoos. Infinitink is contained inside a tiny plastic bead. When a tattoo-removing laser hits the bead, the ink is instantly blasted away, eliminating the need for several rounds of removal treatment. However, Infinitink is more expensive than regular tattoo ink and therefore isn't commonly used. I'm not making you change you're mind, it's just the side effects of tattoos! Hope this helped! Oh, I would probably rate the pain, 9/10 :)

That's probably the most painful place to have a tattoo. So on a scale of 1 to 10, I'd say 15. My friend recently got tatted there, a rather long french quote. He said it hurt but he didn't cry, and he's a skinny little thing, 5'5 and 99 more or less pounds. His first tattoo, as well. He did it, you can, too!
tatoos are slow scratches depends on how much u think a scratch hurts id 3 it will probley tickle more then anything because it not an unexpected ouy lol haha
people are gonna sit here and tell you it dose hurt and some are gonna say it don't hurt but really it's what ever you can handle I have 7 and the one on my foot was the worst and the one on my ribs was not that bad, and befor I got my foot tattooed I was looking and asking on here like you did and I got tons of peope saying it hurts don't do and then no it's tickels but I wanted to find out for my self and well yes it hurt really bad but it's all up to you get it tattooed and you be the juge of that and writing will go by really fast and easy
Ive got quite a big tattoo on the back of my neck, all the way up to my earlobe...it just depends on if the needle touches any bones or sensitive areas! Some of the tattoo, I felt like I could fall asleep, it was quite realaxing, and other bits I was like, ouch! To me, when it hurt, it felt like a few bee stings at one time, but it went away in seconds! Good luck with the tat, def think about what you want though...will you like that phrase when your 30? 50? 80? Have a good think before you get it anyway!
I haven't gotten any tattoos before, so this is just a guess, but try poking yourself in the ribs with a pin or something, that's probably pretty close also make sure they spell everything right! I've seen a lot of fail tattoos with typos
Being you're going to be scared, and nervous, I'd say probably a 5-6. But when you get another one, probably not bad. Keep your pain expectations high, so you'll be ready, then if it doesn't hurt at all, you'll have nothing to worry about. :)
