Why Am I always being asked to get a tattoo? You're dumping me just because I don't have any?
-
By the way, this isn't for the people who were always into tattoos from the get-go, before it went mainstream and became a trend. Please excuse any run-ons, excessive punctuations and misspells. I mean I do find tattoos part of art, but it being a trend to teenagers and adults who get them just because others get it? There's something wrong....because how is it that at the very same time, everyone now want's one.//after criticizing the very few people with tattoos years ago. Where I live, in The Bronx, we have a heavy load of people with tattoos now. But Its no surprise that they're following celebs and rap artists who keep passing a message about getting inked up (more like, inspiring their fans). Sometimes I feel as if I'm the last man without alternate piercings and tattoos and now I'm not being accepted by my own hometown for being myself and not part of the SHEEP. Even people who thought tattoos are SINFUL are getting holy/saint/religion tattoos. WTF??? What really irks me is that people keep asking me why don't I have a tat. LOL Is there some law that states that it is illegal to live my life ink-less? That's what they make it sound like. I've been looked at weirdly lately. That is the main reason why I came up here and vent myself on Yahoo! Answers. What's sad is that Followers have forgotten that trends die out and a new one is born from time to time. When that whole "I'm cool because I have a tattoo and girls find it sexy" trend is over, so much regret could either take place and tattoo removal services will be hitting the loot ($$$$). or maybe the trend will live on and on. In the future, you may hear, see or read the following: 1. "Mom, why did you let me do this?" 2. Tattoo removal advertisements will be all over subways, billboards, TV, blimps, pop-ups, etc. 3. Yahoo! News: "Corporate Employers will have no choice but to hire tatted workers keep their business going" 4. "I need a man dat got no tat. u don't find them types lately" 5. "Gettin' my tats removed. I look like a graffiti wall." 6. WABC: "Children and tattoos. Are you ok with it?" 7. Google+ update (Facebook is no more) "yO0o I jus saw some girl wit no tat..She's a freakin' weirdo and dats not even normal" 8. The government "Hey..Censussurvey states that 90% of the nation's population have tattoos including children and are enjoying it. I'm sure they wouldn't mind having bar codes on their skin for better identification. Let's make it a law." 9. Police: "Would you give me the description of the suspect?" Victim: "He has a tattoo of Yo Gabba Gabba" Police: "Ok That's all we need sir". 10. please place your hand on the scanner for identification and payment.. ...Thank you for ordering Dominos. lately, women in NYC (not all but MANY so please don't be offended lol) are getting picker as in rejecting men who DON'T have tattoos. They'd find ANYTHING sexy just because its a trend. Then when the trend is gone, they'd go "ew!". You know. I'm feeling that I and the rest of the ink-less people in the urban environment will stand out more this summer because everyone else will be looking the same. To the ink-less: I'm sure your loved one with a little meaningful tattoo wouldn't bother, but when he/she starting to look addicted and want more and more AND MORE, drop a brick on his/her head lol.

Answer:
Those living the truely inked life, don't give a damn that you don't have tattoos. As I got my first tattoo in the early 90's; I'm not a johnny and jane come lately. You know you REALLY wanted a tattoo when your first memory of wanting one was seeing your 70 year old Great-Uncle's WWII faded and you cant tell what they are tattoos and knowing you'd have a tattoo one day. I don't have one tattoo with "great personal meaning". Though I do have some tattoos that celebrate things I've accomplished. (Not generic **** like oh I'm an adult and not a child.) I'm talking real, tangable accomplishments like having been an EMT and saved people's lives. I have other tattoos that I got for no other reason than I liked the design. I'm working on a half-sleeve that is just stuff I like. My other half sleeve with be the same thing. Honestly I'd rather see a beautiful piece of art than a long quote with "great personal meaning". Oh you got that because it says everything about life and how you should live it and blah, blah, blah. I honestly don't care. Now give me a great rendering in ink of Pink Floyd's The Wall and you've got my attention. I'm not saying it's wrong to get a tattoo with great personal meaning. What annoys me about 98% of people with or who want tattoos with great personal meaning is they feel like they are so superior because their tattoo isn't just because. (Yeah, get a tattoo that says live life to the fullest and look down on those who are doing just that because they got a tattoo that was a risk or bold or just plain cool.) Seriously spend a couple of days reading here...the smug in some questions could almost choke you. So yeah, most younger folks are getting inked because it is the trend. So what? Yeah they might regret it. Yeah some of them annoy me with the great personal meaning crap (thanks tv). Yeah some make you wonder what they were thinking. But among all that are some really spectacular pieces of art. ...anyway some people aren't meant to be inked and that's great. Or you may find one day that you want a "Do Not Resusitate" tattoo on your chest. (Seriously I saw that in a portfolio, an older gentleman had gotten it.) Either way be you and enjoy life with or without ink.

All I have to say is everyone is their own person and can do what they please. Some people will never even think about a tattoo, and some people will be covered in ink from head to toe. Everyone is different, and that's a good thing.
