I think I have an infection in my finger. What should I do?

After getting a finger tattoo should my whole finger hurt?

  • my friend gave me a homemade tattoo. I know it sounds bad but we made sure things were clean, plus her friend has given her self many tattoos before and my friend got one done so she new how to do it. After it was finished it looked pretty good, although my friend doesnt think it will last because she didn't go in far enough. We put cream on the tattoo and wrapped it up in plastic wrap. It's been about twenty four hours now and my whole finger hurts when you tough it like if I had a really bad bruise or something. The knuckle hurts the worst. By the way my tattoo is located on my middle finger on the side of it. Its now red and really big and hot now and Im afraid that it might be an infection. Although then I got my belly button priced it being hot and red was part of the healing process, i was wondering if this might be the same? I wont be able to get to a hospital for about two weeks cause Im out of the country... You could say that Im kinda freaking out.

It might be infected...i would just say to call an immediate care center and see what they recommend.

I had a finger tattoo done February 10, 2012 and it hurt at the time. I thought I might need Lidocaine for the pain during the procedure but it didn't swell up or turn red because I went to a professional and regulated artist. As a matter of fact, it is healing very nicely. You have an infection. If you can't get to a hospital at least get an ointment for the infection. Good Luck.

You have a very nasty infection, which will spread and endanger your life. Either find a hospital or doctor ASAP or cut the finger off. Those are your only real options. To everyone else: This is what happens when you go to scratchers!

You're an idiot. Just because your friend has had a tattoo done at home by a friend doesn't mean she knows what she's doing at all. If you want a tattoo they do it safely and go to a piercer. I hope your finger is infected as karma for you being so stupid.
