How do I get rid of my scar on my neck?

Is it possible to get a neck tattoo over a scar?

  • Hi, A couple years ago I had a total thyroidectomy done, and as a result, am now the proud owner of a 4 inch long, 1/4 inch wide, bright pink (outlined in red), puffy scar. Did I mention I'm really pale too? >_> My question is, would it be possible to get a tattoo over the scar? I'm not wanting anything too intricate, I'm really just wanting color (preferably something that matches my skin tone) placed either around the scar or completely over it. Thank you for any help you can give. :)

  • Answer:

Scar tissue unfortunatley is the toughest type of skin to tattoo. Somehow it works out that scar tissue reject alot of the ink when you get tattoo and you will have a fade mark where your scar is. if you can lighten your scar that would probably help to not make it so obvious if you were to get a tattoo over it! Go to a shop and have an artist look at it and get their personal opinion. Depending on the talent of the artist they might be able to get the ink to stay! Good luck though !

You mean you don't want a tattoo, just something to lighten the color of the scar? Tattooing over a scar would probably make it darker-maybe you should get some really good scar cream like mederma

They can tattoo over scar tissue and cover it.

Go to a plastic surgeon. They can use steroids to take out the puffiness and there's a machine that with a couple treatment will take out the red.
