What are some good tattoo ideas for an 18 year old girl?

  • i just turned 18! i'm a girl, and i'm looking into getting a small tattoo on my hip. nothing big. just a cute little tattoo. but i want a tattoo that has a symbolic meaning! i'm kind of girly, but not too girly. i don't really want a butterfly cause that's so generic. any ideas?

    Not all 18-year-old girls are created equal. I can assure you, when I was 18, I wasn't interested in what you're interested in. Don't get a tattoo for the sake of getting a tattoo. It sounds like you DO, in fact, want something pretty generic, since all you want is "symbolic" and "cute." Spend some time actually putting thought into your PERMANENT decision.

small tattoo's are trashier than big tattoos. I'm a 20 year old girl with almost my whole back tatted. if you're getting a tat, go all out!

You should find something that has symbolic meaning for you. You could go to the tattoo shop and look at the artist portfolios and get ideas from there.

Small tattoos are not trashier than big ones...don't listen to that comment...ridiculous. Get what you think would be good for you. I have a fairy on the back of my neck, a poem on the right ribs and a design on the left, a saying on my left shoulder, stars, butterflies and flowers on my right foot, saying on my wrists (in another language) and my sons' names on my chest. All of mine have meaning to them, not just cuz I felt like it. Tribal butterfly could be really cute....ask an artist's opinion. Look on the net for ideas and make it your own. It is there forever, so do something you like.

um a heart a star.. some kind of flower which ever kind you like like a rose or something.

When I turn 18, i'm getting a small daisy on my hip. You could get a flower, because different flowers have a lot of different meanings and symbols. Some mean beauty, some mean innocence, some mean strong, etc. Or you could get a word. Like Believe. Or you could just tattoo a small heart. Or something meaningful. My boyfriend recently got the date of his dads death tattooed on his wrist, in roman numerals. It's amazing. Just DON'T do nautical stars, hello kitty, chinese symbols, or anything else that you see on EVERYBODY. Do something different. :)

If your tatoo is very small, it doesn't matter what you get because it will just look like a blob unless you are quite close, Research a good artist (who will have a portfolio) , and ask the artist for an idea for your particular body. Don't just go into some place and pick "flash" off the wall. This is on you forever, so give it thought and get a one-of-a-kind tatoo from an ARTIST. Anyway, a fairy or a mermaid is girly. I love having tatoos!
