I want a small tattoo and need some advice from someone who knows..?
-
This will be my first tattoo, its a small swallow that i designed myself and i want it on my foot. Basically what i want to know is whether the size of a tattoo make any difference to a tattoists ability to do it well, is it more difficult to do small or big ? will any tattoist be able to do a small, quite dainty tattoo like i want or do i need to look around for someone who speciafically is good at them, if this is the case, does anyone know anyone good at it ? I don't know of that makes sense, hope so. Any info would be great, thanks !

Answer:
When you go into a tattoo place, you should look at the artists' portfolios. Different artists specialize in different things- some do portraits really well, some do large pieces really well, some like flowers, some asian art, etc. A good artist shouldn't have a problem doing your detailed piece, though yes, smaller pieces require a bit more skill. It will be on your foot forever, so it's worth taking the time to look around and find the right artist. Also remember- you get what you pay for, don't always go for the cheapest place!

Every tattoo parlor has portfolios of their artists. So you should look at each one of those in order to judge their artist ability. You can also take your design drawn on a piece of paper to the tattoo parlor for them to use. They have special photocopy paper there in order to transfer your work onto your body as an ink outline. (One side of the paper is sticky and will make an outline for them to trace directly over) At least the tattoo parlor I went to did use this transfer method.
A small tattoo that does not shout out is OK, BUT what is this nonsense with tattoos??? I find them sickening!!!! I WILL NOT hire anyone who has tattoos or body piercings..My customers are high end clients and I am not interested in the ugly mess that tattoos make on the body...NO CLASS!! The only thing worse is all the face piercing....The only message it sends is YUK!!!!!!!!!
Don't do it. You'll only regret it. A lot of tattoo artists do not change their needles for every customer. You could end up with HIV or gangrene and having your foot off. I know, I've seen it.
