Can you offer some advice on foot tattoos?

  • I've been wanting a tattoo on my foot for a long time. I've picked a design, looked at it everyday for a year and I'm sure this is something I want. But I've got some questions. I've never had a tattoo before and I've heard tattoos on the feet can be incredibly painful compared to tattoos on fleshier parts of the body. So how painful are foot tattoos? Do they hurt a lot more than other tattoos? Are they unbearably painful? I've not got a terribly high pain threshold but I've done stupid things like stepped on big shards of glass before and whilst that hurt, it didn't really bother me. I've also heard that tattoos on the feet will fade more quickly and that lines can blur and become misshapen. (I'm planning on having this on the top of my foot, from near my pinkie toe to the top of my foot) Is this true? Will I need a touch up shortly after I've gotten my tattoo and will I need it to be fixed every few years? And finally, what do you guys think of feet tattoos? Do you like them? Do you think they're tacky or stupid? Do you think they look cheap? Your opinions probably won't change my mind but I'd like to hear what you think anyway :) Thanks in advance!

    I was scared to death to get mine, but it wasn't bad at all. It covers 75% of my foot at least. About a 4 on a 10 scale. I was talking & texting the whole time. I have had mine for 2 yrs & it still looks great! They can fade more the closer you go to the boring bottom & sides. If you stay on the top it will be better. You will love it!

I have my foot tattooed, it hurts like hell not so much on the top near your ankle but down near your toes and the sides hurt so bad! I love foot tattoos they are painful but worth it. I don't think your foot tattoo fades any more than a tattoo in other places. It also depends on how deep the artist goes into your skin. I've had my foot tattooed about a year now and it looks like it did after it healed. Your foot will swell from a few days to a week or so. If you control your breathing and focus on something in the shop and cuss it helps with the pain. Good luck

I like foot tattoos but i would never get it because ive heard people who have them that there are extremely painful, like a 15 in pain on a scale of 1-10
