Is it wrong to have tattoos that are dedicated to the deceased?

A reason that tattoos and piercings are wrong, with no religion explanations?

  • I'm curious just to see what everyone thinks about tattoos and piercings. I personally love them, I think they're beautiful works of art and pieces of jewelry. However, the only reason I've ever been given to explain why they are a "sin" and morally wrong are related to religion and scripture. I was wondering if I could get some real information why these might be wrong without and religious reason. Shoot.

  • Answer:

I believe skin is just a blank canvas. Why limit art to frames or pottery or sculpture? Art is found everywhere, spray painted on bricks, on the fashion runways, in nature, hairstyles and even makeup. So why refrain from putting it forever on your body if thats your passion?

nothing is wrong with them....cant say the same about some religions though

I only think there wrong when there not taken care of. And if the tattoo isn't chosen carefully. I don't like to hear people complain about how they have there ex wife's name on their neck. Other wise I like them. Expect for gages, they smell when taken out. >_<

they're not wrong...

It's one of those things that are different for different people. I am sometimes totally baffled by what people want when they come in the door. For some, certain types of tattoos are wrong, for others; tattooing in any size, shape, form or color is completely taboo, whereas their piercings are not. There are as many different attitudes toward the art as there are people that come in on a friday night. I just say, 'To each their own'. The earliest known tattoos are on a well-preserved ice age man, and were lines on the fingers meant to ward off disease. A few thousand years later, Egyptian mummies had similar tattoos, for the same reason most of the time. Later, tattoos became decorative. Another early modern-day reason for the Christ on the Cross tattoo, or the Virgin Mary tattoo, was to stay the hand of the whip for infractions aboard ship while on the high seas. Many countries have tribal markings that denote bloodlines, as well as the rites of passage into marriage, or adulthood. Tattooing is as old as man himself.

i don't think tattoos and piercings are wrong. whats wrong is the fact that there are still a ton of people out there that cant except them, yet more and more people are getting tattooed on a daily basis. soon people without tattoos are going to be the minority.

there is nothing wrong with them

Im not against people that get them in any way i myself would never get one. I just feel like they can sometimes be ugly when they start to engulf you. Skin is so pretty and sensuous, and then bam a tattoo. Uh i really dont know how to explain how i feel without seeming stupid like im on lsd or something. Haha. Well theres part of my opinion atleast.

I don't see anything wrong with tattoos. And religion? Some people get, "I ♥ Jesus" on themselves and others may get a cross. So I don't understand that. I don't really like piercings, though. One or two times in the ear is okay, but gages and 7 studs in one ear? Snake bites and nose piercings? I personally think they're ugly. Sorry If I insulted anyone.

As long as you get something that you feel can represent you for the rest of your life not just at that particular moment. Like don't get a boyfriend's name maybe get your parents.
