Do I need to do something to get my website on google?

I was wondering, if I create a website using the free site Weebly.com is there something I have to do to make it appear on google if it is searched for? I had to make a website for a art class and even if I google the website address itself it does not show up. Why is this?

Your website needs to be found first by search engines. Put a link to your site somewhere on another site, preferably on a page with high PR.
