Building backlinks is tricky and very time consuming. Using inner URL's on blog comments is a good start. You can also try searching for forums that relate to your website. There are several good "How To" articles and videos that explain how to build links. I suggest searching Google. The important thing is do not get frustrated and resort to using an automatic link building software or hiring someone that uses automated software. Often times, these types of software will submit a lot of links at once. The search engines are smart. If they detect that you suddenly have 1,000 backlinks in one day, they may penalize your website. You have to build backlinks slowly and overtime. To be honest, I tried for over a month to build backlinks and it was a pain! It ate up a lot of time and I saw little results because I wasn't placing URL's on websites with a high PR ranking. I saw an article specifically on what types of links to build. No wait, it was a lens in squidoo. http://www.squidoo.com/build-web-backlinks That thing. But no if you use inner URLs on blogs it wouldn't look like spam...however I wouldn't submit inner URLs to directories unless it's a Squidoo url or something similar. They accept HUBs but not deep pages.
