Why does my lower back hurt?

I know what I did to cause my lower back i'm pretty sure. I'm 16, and at the beginning of school during p.e. we had all these physical tests done like how many push ups and sit ups you can do. One of them was called the trunk lift were you lie on the floor face down and arch your back as far as you can go. I have a very flexible back and was able to get my chin 15 inches from the ground. You were supposed to get 12 the max. Ever since then my lower back right on my spin hurts. It' only if i arch it back though. sleeping walking and everything is fine. but when if someone touches it or pushes it really hurts. The trunk lift was back towards the end of August and it still hurts. Not as much anymore since volleyball ended in the winter though. My mom wont take me to a chiropractor because she is scared of them herself and wont take me. I'm worried. If you guys could give me any ideas to make it better or if it's just nerve damage or something that would really help, Thank You! I'm really worried also because my sister has overall back problems. She is 21 so she went to the chiropractor herself. He said her rib sticks out very awkwardly and after some crayss her rib wasn't lined up and led to back problems over the years. My sister did hurt that rib in volleyball when she played in high school and asked mom about it like i did and she didn't take my sister. So the the Doctor said you can either live with back pain or we can fix your rib but since mom didn't take her to the Doctor all the nerves and tendons grew around the rib and it would feel like a car crash to get it fixed.....idk why i told you this story but i did anyway lol

First you need to listen to your body. Since it hurts when you bend backwards try to avoid it. Stretch forwards as far as you can go. I experience the same thing, I injured my back two in a half years ago and I haven't bent backwards since except to show my physical therapist. It might be something that you will deal with for a while. About the chiropractor, They adjust your spine with pressure, and it relieves shooting pain down your leg usually. If your back pain is in the center of your back that might now work. They treat bulging or herniated disc poking into your nerves causing numbness or pain down your leg. I feel like I just repeated my self, but a better option is physical therapy, probably a back specialist to start out with. They listen to your body and know proper exercises good for your back. I have been through a long process and the physical therapy with the back specialist is the only thing that worked. It is important that you go to a back specialist because I went to a regular physical therapy place for 3 months and they did not know what to do. I hope this helps and maybe your mom would be more open to physical therapy. Alicia
