How often is it safe to have a CT scan for kidney stones?

• I went to the emergency room on Monday because of excrutiating pain. I have had kidney stones before and the pain felt similar. I gave a urine sample, had some blood work done and then went for a cat scan. I was told first while awaiting the results of my ct that I have a pretty horrendous infection in my bladder, ureters and kidneys. A little while later the radiologist told my doctor that I do indeed have a kidney stone in each of my kidneys as well. The doctor gave me antibiotics for the infection and said he thought that what was causing the pain because the stones "have not dropped yet". I was just wondering if that's possible to have stones and so much pain and think the stones aren't the source of it. Every time I' ve had stones (4 times before this) my body doesn't pass them and I have to have them removed. So should I just cut to the chase and have these removed? I've been on the antibiotics for 48 hours and still in pretty intense pain in waves, have a lowgrade fever and pretty much a constant urge to urinate. Argh kidney stones...

  Kidney problems from diabetes? Avoid sugar. Get the a1c test. Most stones are calcium. vinegar dissolves calcium. try Italian dressing on your salad or some pickled vegetables.
