What is the best way to get rid of head pain other then meds?

Im prescribed 1 to 2 15mg roxicodone tabs 6x daily, like 370 tabs month and its not working for chronic pain..?

  • I take roxycodone 15-30mgs roxycodone 6x daily for chronic pain. My doctors tell me I have no choice but too take pain meds the rest of my life for injuries too 7 discs in my back. I dont know that I can do this much longer, ive been on pain meds since 2000 and i just dont wanna continue. i have talked too a few doctors and ive avoided surgery so the pain continues. these doctors tell me that yes i will have too choose pain meds and a quality of life or no pain meds and horrible pain decreasing my quality of life. im sick of worrying if i run out or if lose my meds and worry they are stolen! basically pain meds are a daily part of my life, its depressing at times. at this point I couldnt imagine advising my doctors that i wanna quit takin em as i assume i would have too wean off of this stuff. im between a rock n a hard spot as quitting the meds would create big time pain and withdrawal issues, and how would i deal with the pain! so how does a person get pain under control with no medication? on one hand i would like too get rid of the constant medication and side effects, and i miss my old self! tired of being medicated.... i heard of suboxone for these issues? will that stuff relieve chronic pain for radiculpathy, deg disc dis, stenosis etc...i have many discs in the cervical, thoracic, lumbar area affected and pain meds are the only relief for me, at times a god send but i wont miss the arrogance of pain doctors office staff that hold meds over your head etc.. i wont miss the way folks look at you crooked like pharmacists etc... tired of the racquet you could say lol sorry so long... frustration! anyone have answers here? please guys no stretching or yoga advice or any bio feedback etc... im beyond the holistic scene here... thanks

  • Answer:

I have ddc and sciatica and I found that if you are taking pain killers for long term use all pain meds will stop working all together. You have to go off of them for a while and then start them again to get the pain relief. If you get into a pain management program, like I am ,they will switch my pain meds every month so that I don't build up a tolerance to them. I totally get where you're coming from with the comments that the Dr's and pharmacy staff when I refill my meds. All they see is a young girl trying to get high and not someone who is in constant pain. That's why I started going to pain management. They don't have those stereotypes there :) Good luck!!
