Raising pain threshold?
-
Is it possible for me to raise my pain threshold? I get excruciating menstrual cramps & have to use advil AND percocet for the pain. I'm happy to say I haven't used either this month. But I'm in pain. If I keep denying myself pain meds, will I become more tolerant of the pain eventually?

Answer:
I don't think you will become more tolerant because you don't have the pain on a daily or even more times than not basis. I never had painful cycles until after my second child. Now my back and sides hurt for a week. I use a hot water bottle on my lower back when it gets too bad.

Yes, you will. But it will take a long (talking years) time, and there are side effects of pain, psychological and physiological.
Why don't you take birth control? it gets rid of menstrual cramps. :)
