How to get rid of pain in my neck?

  • It's been two days now, and I've tried everything and looked at multiple websites, but nothing is working. I'm guessing it's from bad posture or something. I woke up and it was there. It happened once before, about a week ago. I'll give you the details below. Where it is located: It is located on only the left side of my neck, and continues down, then along my shoulders. It stops right before the shoulder blade, but goes a little bit down. The most pain seems to be at the slope of my neck, where it curves into my shoulder. What it feels like: This burning/searing pain that seems to throb. What makes it worse: Moving too fast, standing up or sitting down, bending down, reaching out for something. What I can't do because of the pain: Move fast, raise my arms above my head, sigh, yawn or sneeze, and most importantly, sleep. What I've tried: Ice packs, massaging an ice cube into the affected area, painkillers. The latter did not work, even though the dosage was relatively strong. I also tried Relaxon, which didn't work either. What I've tried to do to help me get to sleep: I tried various different methods of supporting my head; I used a high soft pillow, a high hard one, then a low soft one and a low hard one. I used a medium sized one, and a hard sloped one specifically for neck ache. I tried sleeping without a pillow, then with a rolled up towel under my shoulder blades. I tried to sleep on my back, with a pillow under my knees, and on both my sides, with a pillow in between my knees. None of these worked. What the neck pain does NOT include: Headaches, nausea, dizziness, severe/worsening pain, weakness, numbness, fever. I feel normal except for the neck pain. What can I do? And how can I get to sleep? Thank you in advance. PS: In case this helps, I am fifteen years old, and have had this problem only twice so far on two separate occasions.
